S. Fla. Warms Up Before Another Quick Cool Down

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Warm weather continues Wednesday across South Florida with highs expected to be near 83.

A cold front will move through by late day with perhaps a few showers but otherwise it will be partly sunny with a warm breeze. Slightly cooler more comfortable air arrives Thursday with morning lows in the upper 50s and highs about 10 degrees lower than Wednesday.

Just as quickly as we cool down, we will warm back up through Saturday with highs near 80.

The next front will move through later Saturday with a shower and once again we will cool down a few degrees for Sunday and New Year's Eve which is looking good weather wise.

The bigger weather story is for travelers.

A huge storm is barreling through the Ohio Valley with blizzard like conditions near Indianapolis stretching Northeast into the Great Lakes and interior Northeast later Wednesday and Wednesday night.

A swath of heavy snow will fall with some cities picking up over one foot of snow and wind gusts to 50mph.

There will be big travel problems in the east so expect many flight delays and even cancellations.

On the warm side of the storm the severe threat will continue. Christmas Day there were 34 reports of tornadoes. More tornadoes are possible Wednesday. The severe weather Wednesday will be from eastern Georgia northward to South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia.
