Tis The Season To Travel

MIAMI (CBS4) - It was a busy weekend at South Florida's airports as travelers headed home for the holidays or came in for Christmas.

Miami International Airport officials predicted between 123,000 and 126,000 people passed through their facilities over the weekend and about 100 thousand would travel Christmas Eve and Christmas day.

At Miami International on Sunday night there were no cancellations and only a few delays. Six members of the Michael family spent the evening waiting on a family member to come in from Venezuela.

"It's exciting to be together this nice time of year," said Margarita Michael. "Wonderful, wonderful," echoed Harry Michael who said he's hoping next year maybe all six of his children can be together.

Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International estimated 72,857 passengers a day during the two-week holiday travel period.
