SWEETWATER (CBSMiami) – An IKEA megastore will be built next to Dolphin Mall in Sweetwater, and the Swedish furniture giant just took a big step forward toward its opening with a $31.5 million purchase of the land.

The South Florida Business Journal reports nearly 15 acres was purchased where the 417,000-square-foot store is planned. The property is at the intersection of Dolphin Expressway and Florida’s Turnpike in the city of Sweetwater, which is to the west of Miami International Airport. IKEA currently has three Florida locations – in Sunrise, Orlando and Tampa.

The seller of the land was Procacci Development Corp.
