Gators Going With Brissett Saturday

GAINESVILLE (CBSMiami) – The Florida Gators will be without starting quarterback Jeff Driskel when they take the field at the Swamp against the Jacksonville State Gamecocks Saturday.

Driskel suffered an ankle injury during last weekend's game against Louisiana-Lafayette which will keep him out this week as well.

In his place, the Gators will go with backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett, who at one time last year was the starting quarterback for UF. Brissett came into the 2012 season in a battle with Driskel for the starting job, but lost out on the spot due to Driskel's better running ability.

Brissett has appeared in three games this season including last week's relief duty against the Ragin' Cajuns. He's 9-13 for 95 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions on the season.

Florida's game against the Football Championship Subdivision Gamecocks will be a tune-up game for the season finale against the Florida State Seminoles. The winner of the Gators vs. Seminoles game will push their team even higher in the BCS standings ahead of the championship games.
