MIAMI (CBS4) – Most collegiate basketball players have enough on their plates with a full time schedule of school and sports.

But for Barry University guard Chad Renfro add shark attack to the list. Just five months ago, he was surfing at Jacksonville Beach when he felt an intense bite on his left foot.

“If you can imagine a bear trap,” Renfro told CBS4 sports anchor Jim Berry. “That’s what I assumed it would be like.”

Barry’s leading scorer has fully recovered after needing over 80 stitches and remains in the starting lineup. One would think his experience would scare him from the surfing world for good. However, that’s certainly not the case.

“I’ve been out there three times since,” Renfro said. “You just can’t be afraid.”
