Pets Aplenty At 24-Hour Animal Adoption Event

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Are you a night owl in need of a four legged friend to keep you company? There's a perfect event for you this weekend, Miami's midnight to midnight Mega Pet Adoption Event, a time when you can find the perfect dog or cat companion and give him or her a needed forever home.

Miami's Mega Pet Adoption Event, presented by PetSmart Charities, will be held from Friday night, October 26, at 11:59 p.m., until Saturday night, October 27 at 11:59 p.m. and will have more than 800 homeless animals eager to find a forever home.

The marathon adoption of puppies and kitties will kick-off at midnight and then continue non-stop with hundreds of wonderful pets and discounted adoption fees.

During this past spring's Mega Match-a-thon event, more than 4,000 people attended and 288 animals were adopted.

"Our goal is to match families with their new BFF (Best Furry Friend)," said Alex Munoz, Director of Miami-Dade Animal Services. "With hundreds of loving pets for adoption, everyone should find the perfect dog or cat, or both."

The around the clock adoption event will take place at the covered Equestrian Center in Tropical Park, 7900 Bird Road in Miami. This is a family affair with an entire Kid's Festival, presented by the ASPCA, complete with rides, and fun games for children of all ages.

Free parking is available in the park. Admission is free.
