DAVIE (CBSMiami) – A restaurant that has achieved landmark status to those who live in the Davie, Hollywood and Cooper City area will close its doors after Sunday night.

Since opening its doors nearly a quarter of a century ago, The Ark Restaurant at 6255 Stirling Road developed a loyal following. On weekend nights it was not uncommon to have a line waiting out the door to get in.

Danielle Kleinrichert, daughter of the owner Jim Kleinrichert, told CBS4 they’ve decided to close up because her father wanted to retire and didn’t want her generation to have to step in and take over.

Kleinrichert added with the way the economy is going, it has been increasingly difficult to compete with the large chain restaurants.
