Report: Jackson Finishes July With Surplus

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – There's good financial news coming from Jackson Health System Thursday. According to CBS4 news partner the Miami Herald, Jackson Health finished July with a surplus of $550,000.

The surplus marked the fifth straight month of finishing in the black for the troubled hospital system. The final numbers were boosted by a one-time payment of $466,000 from the county in bond proceeds, according to the Herald.

The system reportedly improved payments to vendors which reduced accounts payable in July by $18 million to $162 million, according to the Herald. That was the lowest level the system has achieved in the last two years.

According to the Herald, the board will continued meeting Thursday afternoon to discuss a new agreement with the University of Miami and next year's fiscal budget.
