Broward Sex Offender Busted For Child Porn

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – A registered sex offender found Friday with disturbing images of child pornography on his home computer was arrested in Oakland Park, according to police.

Authorities said John J. Brittle, Jr. was taken into custody Friday after police executed a search warrant at his home in the 2400 block of NW 33rd Street in Oakland Park.

While conducting an undercover operation, authorities with the South Florida Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force discovered an IP address that was sharing child pornography, stated police. The IP address was traced back to Brittle's home and that's where police said they found his computer which contained more than 200 videos of children being sexually abused by adults.

Many of the children in the videos were as young as 2 years old.

During the search, police said they also found a cache of firearms in Brittle's bedroom closet. The police arrest form states seven guns were found including one shotgun, two automatic rifles, one .380 handgun, two .22 caliber handguns and one 9mm handgun. There was also several hundred rounds of ammunition.

Police also found marijuana in his bedroom, according to the arrest form.

Brittle was charged with 30 counts of Possession of Child Pornography, Use of Computer to Obtain Child Pornography, Registered Sex Offender – Failure to Register Email, Convicted Felon Possessing Firearms, and Possession of Marijuana.
