Deadly School Shooting In Parkland COMPLETE COVERAGEPHOTOS

PLANTATION (CBS4) – A Plantation resident is blaming a pool company for polluting a canal behind his home and killing dozens of fish.

RJ Peck said he saw pool repairmen dumping a substance in the canal behind the pool at the Mar Lago Village Wednesday. A short time later Peck said there were dead fish everywhere.

Peck asked one of the workers what was going on.

“I said, ‘What are you guys dumping in there?’ He said, ‘Nothing,'” Peck told CBS 4’s Carey Codd.

Peck continued searching for answers and said another employee admitted what was going on.

“He said, ‘It’s baking soda. We do it all the time,'” Peck said.

Peck and his wife snapped several photos of the aftermath. The photos show a white substance in the water and dead fish floating. Peck said another photo shows a worker pushing stuff into the water.

He’s angry about it.

“This is my environment that they’re polluting,” he said. “Obviously something’s wrong in the water that they’re killing (fish). This water flows everywhere and eventually out into the ocean.”

Peck said a Broward County Environmental Protection official took samples of the water. Peck said it will be a few days before the results come in.
