Passengers Stranded By Spirit Airlines Return Home

FT. LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – A flight from Los Angeles to Ft. Lauderdale took a lot longer than expected for a Spirit airlines flight after the pilot made an unscheduled landing in Houston when a passenger became disruptive.

Flight 310 with more than 100 passengers left Los Angeles around 10 p.m. on Saturday. After landing in Houston, passengers said they sat on the Tarmac for more than an hour and then spent 10 hours in the terminal.

"An annoying disappointment," said passenger Teresa Shaviano, "No Spirit staff ever came up to talk to us and tell us what was going on."

Spirit released a statement on the incident which said in part:

"We understand that this was an inconvenience for our customers, but the safety of our customers is always top priority. All customers are being given full refunds for this inconvenience."

Nearly 24 hours after their journey began, the Flight 310's passengers arrived in Ft. Lauderdale around 8 p.m. on Sunday.
