FHP Begins July 4th Holiday Crackdown

TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami) - The Florida Highway Patrol has stepped up the number of troopers on patrol for the July 4th holiday.

The increased enforcement began Friday and will to through 8 a.m. on July 5th.

All uniformed FHP personnel, including those normally assigned to administrative duties, will patrol interstates and other major state roads throughout the holiday period.

They hope the increased presence will deter inebriated drivers from getting behind the wheel and cut down on aggressive driving.

Any driver who experiences car trouble on the highway or who otherwise need assistance from the FHP to call them on a cell phone by dialing *FHP (*347).

The FHP urges drivers to give them a call if they see impaired, aggressive or dangerous drivers.
