Woman Who Found, Returned $1,800 Cash At ATM To Be Honored

BOYNTON BEACH (CBSMiami) – A South Florida woman who proved there are still some honest people out there will be honored for her integrity.

On Sunday, May 20th, Adriana Allen, of Boca Raton, found $1,800 cash in the deposit slot of a drive-thru ATM at a Chase bank in Boynton Beach.

Tuesday, Boynton Beach Police will honor her for helping get the money back to its rightful owner.

Allen, who called police to turn in the money, will be presented with a Citizen Commendation during the department's quarterly awards ceremony at 1 p.m. at Intracoastal Park Clubhouse, 2240 N. Federal Highway.

According to a police incident report, Allen said she didn't see any other cars around when she pulled up to the ATM. She even tried to push the cash back into the deposit slot but the machine wouldn't accept it.

Instead of pocketing the cash, honest Adriana called the police and held on to the stack of $100 bills until an officer arrived.

The bank eventually tracked down the rightful owner of the cash and it was returned.
