Boil Water Order Issued For Parts Of Broward County

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBS4) - Several cities in Broward County have issued a boil water order for residents after high levels of bacteria were found in one of the county's wells.

The water plant, which serves Broward County Water and Wastewater Services (WWS) customers in Pompano Beach, Deerfield Beach, Lighthouse Point, and the City of Coconut Creek, tested high for amounts of E. Coli.

The affected well has been taken out of service, officials say.

As a precaution, residents are being urged to boil their drinking water or use bottled water until further notice.

Officials will be testing water samples all weekend and will notify residents when it is safe to consume the water without being boiled first.

For more information, county officials urge you to contact, 954-831-3061 or 954-831-3250.
