MIAMI BEACH (CBS4) – Several law enforcement agencies are looking for a Miami Beach Police K-9 officer who disappeared from his handler’s Miami home Monday night.

The black Belgian Malinois named Rocko may have broken free from his kennel in the backyard of the handler’s home in the area of SW 149th Avenue and Coral Way, but witnesses in the neighborhood told CBS4’s Maggie Newland that a teenager was seen walking with a dog that looked like Rocko.

Police cannot confirm if the dog ran away, or if he was stolen.

At least 20 officers, human and K-9, are looking for Rocko, who is a bomb detection and criminal apprehension dog.

Police urge anyone who has seen Rocko to call 911 and to not try and capture the dog.
