One Person Killed In Short Police Chase Through NW Miami-Dade

NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE (CBS4) - A short chase  in Northwest Miami-Dade ended when the suspects crashed into a car, killing the driver.

Miami-Dade Police Detective Roy Rutland said officers began following a Cadillac with two men inside, which had just been reported stolen in an armed carjacking.  When a detective tried to approach the vehicle, Rutland said the suspect began backing the car up, in an attempt to hit the detective.

The detective opened fire on the suspects but did not hit them or the vehicle. While fleeing, police say, the suspect ran two stop signs and crashed into a Dodge Neon at the intersection of Northwest 83rd Street and Northwest 17th Avenue. The driver of the Neon was killed and the passenger is in critical condition.

After the crash, both suspects bailed out of the Cadillac. One was arrested on the scene, the other is still on the loose.

Anyone with information is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
