HIALEAH (CBSMiami) – Hialeah Police are searching for a man they believe may have kidnapped a woman as she watched two children, driving her around and assaulting her while the kids remained home alone. The two children are fine, but the alleged kidnap victim is under protection in a shelter.
Hialeah Police said the woman was watching a niece and nephew for her sister Monday morning when her ex-husband arrived and took her from the home by force.
The woman told police that he bound her wrists and drove her around, at times hitting her. A police spokesman said the woman, whose name has not been released, got away by saying she needed to get some personal items, and then, when she saw a police officer, running to safety.
Police got involved after the mom tried to reach her sister to check on the kids, who are both under 4, and when she got no answer she called 911.
Police arrived to find the kids alone, with their mother arriving a few minutes later. They said the kids were unharmed.
Police are keeping details of the victims and the suspect to themselves as they search for the ex-husband.
