Monkees Singer Davy Jones Fla. Memorial To Be Private

WEST PALM BEACH (CBSMiami/AP) – Monkees heartthrob Davy Jones was in his stable surrounded by his beloved horses when he suffered a fatal heart attack earlier this week in Indiantown, Florida.

The star’s spokeswoman, Helen Kensick, offered the detail Friday, two days after Jones died at Martin Memorial Hospital in Martin County.

She said Jones spent his final days surrounded by family and riding horses before his sudden death.

A funeral in Florida will be private. Kensick said public services to honor Jones will be held in New York and in England, though the details have not been finalized.

Jones joined the Monkees in 1965, with Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork, and had a string of hits including “Daydream Believer” and “Last Train to Clarksville,” as well as a hit TV series.

Jones was scheduled to perform with David Cassidy, formerly of the Partridge Family, at the Magic City Casino in Miami on April 14th.

While Jones lived in the small town of Beavertown, Pennsylvania, he also kept the home in Indiantown, where he kept his horses, and had a condo in Hollywood which he was in the process of renovating.

Jones was 66.

The more i think about Davys death. The more it hurts me. i was an enormous fan. . This beautiful star that lit the earth should not be dead. But he is not dead God is taking great care of him. He will always remain in teenaged dreams and in my heart. I am so lucky to have met him a few times after concerts. God bless you, sweetie pie.
