Canseco Regrets Writing "Juiced"

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Former Major League Baseball slugger Jose Canseco has taken to Twitter to lament the fact that he blew the door wide open on steroids.

"I am truly sorry for hurting my teammates and friends when I wrote juiced," Canseco wrote. "I have had nightmares since I wrote that book it still haunts me till today. It is my demon that never sleeps."

Canseco wrote the book "Juiced" back in 2005. At the time, it was believed steroids were involved in baseball, but no one knew how deep the rabbit hole really went.

The former Bash Brother with Mark McGwire during their days in Oakland, Canseco was also a former rookie of the year, most valuable players, and won a World Series ring. But he became an outcast for breaking the locker room law of not spilling what really goes on.

His book started the media down the road of investigating steroids in baseball and it eventually brought down some of the biggest names in baseball including: McGwire, Rafael Palmeiro, Roger Clemens, Andy Pettite, Miguel Tejada, Eric Gagne, and Alex Rodriguez.

Canseco's revelation helped to clean up the game of baseball, at least in the mainstream. But, obviously, Canseco wasn't ready for the backlash that he would deal with as a whistle blower.
