More Sex Related Charges Filed Against Fmr. Athletic Director

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A former athletic director at a Miami-Dade private school who is already facing charges of unlawful sexual conduct with a 12-year-old girl was rearrested early Friday after a 17-year-old student told authorities that he also had a sexual relationship with her.

Paul Mira, 29, who worked at the Archimedean Middle Conservatory –Archimedean Upper Conservatory at 12425 Southwest 72nd Street, appeared before a bond court judge Friday afternoon and now faces seven counts of sexual activity on a minor. The judge ordered him held on a $140,000 bond.

Miami-Dade police said Mira attempted to flee after being charged in the first case and was eventually arrested in Polk County.

In the first case, Mira is accused of sexually abusing the 12-year-old girl multiple times last October and November. Mira is charged with two counts of lewd/lascivious battery on a child.

In the latest case, Mira is accused of having a sexual relationship with the 17-year-old between the months of May and August of 2011.

The arrest warrant states that "while the defendant was aware he was being sought by police, he maintained telephonic contact with the 17-year-old victim, and even met her in person. The defendant told the 17 year old victim that he didn't know if he should take his life and the life of the 12 year old female student. The 17-year-old reported this apparent threat to the brother of the 12-year-old victim."
