Two Dead In Lauderhill Shooting

LAUDERHILL (CBSMiami) – Three people were shot Sunday, two of them fatally, at a home in Lauderhill. Police are searching for the gunman, and say he should be considered armed and dangerous.

Family members and friends cried out in pain Sunday night. They never expected the New Year would begin with a double murder and a gunman who they know on the run.

"If these words can reach him in any way- please turn yourself in, please turn yourself in..I love you, your family are here to support you," Kina Freeman pleaded.

The pleas were made to her cousin, 32-year-old Eric Montgomery, to surrender. Police say he shot and killed his wife and his 19-year-old step-daughter after an argument at his home on the 1300 block of NW 55th Avenue in Lauderhill. Their bodies were found in different areas of the house.

"I'm just in shock- it's just unbelievable," the victims' friend, Robin Howard, told CBS4's Natalia Zea.

Howard says the 19-year-old girl is a college freshman, who was home on winter break from school in Tallahassee.

Freeman is still reeling but focused on her cousin's safety.

"It's tragic, and it's very sad of what happened. My condolences go to her family, but I do not want to hear a phone call that he's been killed. So if you're listening cuz (sic), please please."

Police say Montgomery also shot his 73-year-old grandmother in the arm. She was taken to Broward General Medical Center and is expected to be okay.

The same can't be said for the people who love both the suspect and the victims- including the nine-year-old daughter of Montgomery and his wife. She and another family member were in the home during the shooting rampage but were not hurt. Family members say the couple had ups and downs, but they never expected this.

"I just talked with him Friday, everything was good, we were supposed to meet up at the gym tomorrow, and hang out. Him and his daughter was supposed to have father-daughter day Friday so to hear this today is very disturbing," said Freeman.

Police said Montgomery is a 200 pound black male with a low faded haircut and tattoos. He was last seen driving a 2004 champagne Ford F-150 truck with damage to the passenger side door. The truck had Florida license plate AQK-3718.

If you see him call 911.
