TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami/AP) — Florida’s unemployment numbers for November will be announced Friday and Gov. Rick Scott and state labor officials are hoping for some good holiday news.

Florida’s 10.3 percent unemployment in October marked its lowest point in more than two years, but was still significantly higher than the 9 percent national average.

Labor officials will announce the November figures on Friday. More than 950,000 workers remain jobless in Florida going into the final month of 2011.

Scott campaigned on creating some 700,000 new jobs over a seven-year period assuming he’d win re-election in 2014. Since taking office in January, the Republican governor has seen nearly 107,000 new jobs created in the private sector while government jobs continue to go away at all levels — local, state and federal.
