Police Search For Cockatoo Stolen From NW Miami-Dade Yard

NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE (CBSMiami) - Miami Police are looking for two men who were caught on camera stealing a 7 year old Moluccan cockatoo from a Northwest Miami-Dade backyard.

The bird's owner Yvonne Magarin said on November 8, she placed the bird cage outside her home on the 300 block of Northwest 31st Street because the bird likes to get sun.

That's when, Magarin says, entered the yard and are seen wheeling the 5 foot cage to the gate surrounding the home and lifting it over.

Magarin says her mother had stepped away from the home for just ten minutes when the crime occurred.

She is offering a reward for the safe return of the bird, and says she is not revealing the cockatoo's name out of fear that whoever has it will use it to make the bird feel more comfortable.

If you have any information about the stolen cockatoo, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
