Wrestlemania XXVIII Sets Sales Record

MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – Wrestlemania XXVIII is still several months away from starting at Sun Life Stadium, but the annual event is already setting records.

According to World Wrestling Entertainment, first day ticket sales to Wrestlemania XXVIII set a record gross of $6.3 million. The ticket sales dwarfed the previous record set for Wrestlemania XXV or $4.8 million.

"Coming off the momentum of last year's record breaking event in Atlanta, we fully anticipate that this year's Wrestlemania in Miami will be our largest and most successful ever," said WWE senior vice president of special events, John Saboor.

The ticket sales could be getting boosted by the scheduled main event featuring a matchup between Miami's own Dwyane "The Rock" Johnson and John Cena.

The two are set to do battle at Survivor Series in just a couple of weeks as a tag-team.
