Nelson Trouncing GOP In Fundraising

MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – The chances that a Republican can unseat Senator Bill Nelson in 2012 are shrinking every day.

Nelson outraised every Republican challenger that has declared for the 2012 GOP primary. What's more, the next closest fundraiser is no longer in the race.

The biggest GOP fundraiser was Florida Senate President Mike Haridopolos, who dropped out of the race in July. Haridopolos had raised $3.5 million through September and has refunded more than $1 million to donors.

The next biggest fundraising total from a GOP challenger to Nelson was former Senator George LeMieux. He raised $1.3 million so far and had spent $330,000.
