Woman Rescued From Pembroke Pines Condo Fire

PEMBROKE PINES (CBS4) – A Pembroke Pines woman was rushed to the hospital after firefighters pulled her out of a burning apartment.

The fire broke out around 4 a.m. in a fifth floor unit of the Colony Point Condominiums in the 1100 block of Colony Point Circle.

Pembroke Pines Fire said the elderly woman who lived in the condo called 911 and said she was trapped by the flames and smoke. Arriving firefighters saw smoke streaming out of the apartment, forced their way inside and found the woman who was unconscious.

They pulled her to safety and rushed her to Memorial Hospital West where she was treated for 'serious and life threatening injuries'.

Fire crews quickly put out the fire which was contained to the woman's apartment. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
