Construction To Close Don Shula Expressway This Weekend

MIAMI - (CBS4) - Drivers who plan to travel along the Don Shula Expressway this weekend should expect closures and prepare to seek alternate routes.

The Miami Dade Expressway Authority announced Friday that all southbound lanes will be closed from Southwest 88th Street/Kendall Drive to Florida's Turnpike as workers install drainage equipment. The single lane closures will begin at 9 p.m. Saturday and all lanes will close by 10 p.m.

They will reopen Monday at 5:30 a.m. To access Florida's Turnpike, drivers will be allowed to exit at Southwest 88th Street/Kendall Drive and follow detour signs.

The entrance ramp that leads southbound on the Don Shula Expressway will be closed as workers relocate a temporary barrier wall. The ramp will close from 10 a.m. Saturday through 5:30 a.m. Monday.

Lighting and drainage installations will also close the entrance ramps to southbound SR 874 from eastbound and westbound SW 104th Street/Killian Parkway and from southbound SW 107th Avenue. The ramp will close at 10 p.m. Saturday and will reopen on Monday at 5:30 a.m.
