MIAMI (CBS4) – As Miami’s unemployment rate continues to hover in the double digits, job seekers may be able to find some relief at a massive job fair being held in Miami on Tuesday.
The Miami Job Fair, hosted by U.S. Rep Frederica Wilson, will be held August 23, 2011 at the James L. Knight Center from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. The James L. Knight Center is located at 400 SE 2nd Avenue.
“From day one, my focus has been jobs, jobs, jobs,” said Congresswoman Wilson in a statement. “Unemployment in South Florida is no longer a crisis, but an epidemic. It’s time to take matters into our own hands and provide real opportunities for people to get back to work.”
The event will feature seminars on job readiness, resume writing, interview skills and salary negotiations.
More than 110 local and national employers will be on hand to accept resumes and talk with applicants. Some of the companies represented include Home Depot, AT&T, Carnival Cruise Lines, Care Plus, Coca-Cola, Macy’s, Florida Marlins, University of Miami, Wal-Mart and Wells Fargo. Organizers say applicants will be able to apply for an estimated 1933 positions.
“No one was invited or allowed to participate in this job fair if they didn’t have openings and were ready to hire right now,” said Wilson.

Wilson says if Tuesday’s job fair isn’t enough, she promises to hold another one.

How much money do I need to contribute to U.S. Rep Frederica Wilson, campaign to be able to get one of these so called “jobs”. ?You really don’t think these political hacks will allow just anyone to get a job without some backroom deal?. It’s all a scam. All non union low level paying jobs they dangle to the public to make you think these criminal politicians are doing something to help but only lining their pockets with campaign donations.

Congresswoman Wilson? I have no clue as to your statement of the Tea Party being your enemy? How so? If I didn’t know any better I’d say you and Ms. Maxine Waters are calling the Tea Party out. Careful Ms. Wilson and Waters, at 12.9% of the total population you really want to go there? Of course you do and not being a Tea Partier I do support their values and principals so I would have to say your terms of engagement are acceptable. Obviously you do as we’ve now heard in two days by two black US Congressional Leaders for the Tea Party to go to straight to hell and the other saying the Tea Party is our enemy. As a Female California employer, I find this absolutely disgusting. Ms. Wilson, I doubt after you slammed 60-70% of the customer base of those companies participating, your next job fair could be your own. I do know Home Depot will now gracefully defer this faux opportunity all the while telling you they’re in. Regardless of this thing normal folks call ugly, I have authorized our executives in Hialeah to contact and find Ms. Jolaby Hannon and her Daughter from the CBS video for employment with our company beginning immediately.

Rep. Wilson has no standing outside of her district. She is a blithering buffoon who will say whatever it takes to mollify her folks in S. Fla. She is an embarrasment in an already embarrassing Congress. Keep attacking the TEA party Ms. Wilson….it just makes us stronger. We are America.
