Final Skate Called At Gold Coast Roller Rink

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBS4) – The oldest roller skating rink in South Florida, the Gold Coast Roller Rink in Fort Lauderdale, has shut its doors for good.

The iconic Gold Coast Roller Rink, in business for 64-years, has shutdown to make room for a pet parlor.

The final skate took place Sunday night.

When it first opened, Gold Coast was a favorite teenage hangout. It also hosted skate nights for the mature including holding its infamous gay skate night every Tuesday night for the past four decades.

The crowds have dwindled over the years so the owner sold the rink for financial reasons.
