Dolphins Sign Rookie QB Pat Devlin

MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – The Miami Dolphins may need a veteran quarterback, but they have hit the rookie free agent wire Tuesday morning for their latest signal caller.

The Dolphins have signed former Delaware Blue Hens quarterback Pat Devlin as the latest addition to the growing Fins roster, according to the ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Devlin was rated as one of the top ten quarterbacks in the 2011 NFL Draft by NFL Network's Mike Mayock, but wasn't picked through the seven rounds of the draft.

Devlin was the CAA Football Offensive Player of the year in 2010 for Delaware. He completed 261 of 384 passes for 3,032 yards and 22 touchdowns with 3 interceptions. In two seasons for the Blue Hens, he threw for 5,696 yards and 38 touchdowns and won 18 games.

His addition makes him just the third Dolphins quarterback on the roster, joining starter Chad Henne, and practice squad player Tom Brandstater.

Depending on what veteran quarterback the Fins bring in, Devlin might end up as the team's third quarterback.

The Dolphins reportedly beat out the Colts and Raiders for Devlin's services.
