Medical Journal Debunks Need For 8 Glasses Of H2O A Day

MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – For years, most everyone has been told at one point or another that to be healthy; you must drink six to eight glasses of water a day. But a new British study has said that recommendation is "thoroughly debunked nonsense."

The study, published in the British Medical Journal, said no study has ever confirmed the claim that 6-8 glasses of water are helpful. Similar studies in the United States have also called into question the need for that much water a day.

Officially, the Mayo Clinic recommends people drink as much water as is necessary to replace water that is lost throughout the day. So when you head out to the beach in the South Florida heat and humidity, drink up.
