Street Renamed After Murdered Dade Businessman

MIAMI (CBS4) - The life of a Miami-Dade resident who was killed at his place of business was commemorated early Tuesday morning with a street renaming ceremony hosted by Miami-Dade Commissioner Lynda Bell.

At Bell's request, the Miami-Dade Commission agreed to rename S.W 102 Avenue between S.W. 120th Street and S.W. 136th Street as "Paul S. Barrow Avenue" in honor of Paul S. Barrow; a husband and father of three who was gunned down last December at his automotive repair shop, Devonaire Service & Tire.

Barrow's widow, Audree, was deeply moved by the decision to rename the road after her late husband. "I'm totally overwhelmed by this to be honest," said Audree.

Friends and family remember Paul as being a man full of integrity, honesty and who always went out of his way to help others.

"This is the best way I can think of to honor my brother who was such a genuine man," said Daniel Barrow.

Barrow lived in his neighborhood for nearly 20 years and his daughter Stefanie looks forward to seeing her father's sign every day.

"It's going to remind me of old times, especially when a song on the radio comes on that he and I used to jam out to, of course."

Bell said she's happy to help keep Barrow's memory alive in a neighbored that continues to celebrate his life.

"Every day when the family drives by and their friends drive by, the different people who have been helped by Paul Barrow, they're going to look up and see the sign and remember Paul Barrow," said Bell.
