Mother Dealing With Son's Murder And Unemployment

MIAMI (CBS4) – The mother of a man who was found stabbed and beaten to death has asked the community for information about her son's murder as she deals with the death and her looming unemployment.

James Delancy, 23, was found stabbed and beaten to death at North Glade Park. Miami-Dade Police Department is calling his death a homicide and has no motive in this case.

His mother, Lisa Fussell, said James was a mild mannered and calm man.

"I know we can't bring him back. I just like answers. Why did you feel he deserved to be treated like that," asked Fussell.

If the pain of losing her son wasn't enough, Fussel is losing her job for the Dade County Public Schools at the end of the month. She has been collecting donations to pay for her son's funeral.

"Even my co-workers have come through. It's amazing that they care about me. I love Dade County Public Schools even if they fired me," said Fussell.

While Delancy's family is asking for the community's help; they are worried that the community may take matters into their own hands. James' family is asking everyone to let the police handle it.

"We don't want anyone to go out and do anything to hurt someone else's family and feel the same pain we are feeling," James' brother, Roland Delancy told CBS4's Silva Harapetian.

If you have any information about the murder that happened last Tuesday at North Glade Park near Miami Gardens call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477). There is a $1000.00 reward for information leading to an arrest.
