Orange Bowl Set For January 4

MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – The NFL lockout has already cost players and employees of teams lost money and frustrated fans. Now, the Bowl Championship Series has to set some soft dates for the major bowls because they may conflict with NFL games.

The BCS announced the Orange Bowl will be played on Wednesday, January 4 at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens. This date is likely set in stone because the NFL will not be playing on a Wednesday night, regardless of a lockout.

The Rose Bowl, which won't have to be moved regardless of the NFL, will be played on January 2. The Sugar Bowl will be played on January 3, which is a Tuesday. The Fiesta Bowl be played on January 5 in Glendale, Arizona.

But, the BCS national championship game is in flux because it's currently scheduled for January 9th which is a Monday night. Of course if the NFL pushes its season back due to the lockout, the game could be moved.

The BCS said it could be moved to either January 7 or January 10.
