Dog Stolen During Robbery Leaves A Family Distraught

WEST PARK (CBS4) - Robbed of their electronics and jewelry, it isn't a flat-screen TV that the Budd family want returned to their home, but their dog.

Last Friday afternoon Scott Budd found his backyard gate open and the sliding glass door shattered when he got home from work.

While searching his home and making note of his stolen belongings Budd realized 10 year-old Kaycee, his Lhasa Apso-Bichon Frise mix was also missing.

Robbers hit the Budd home on Southwest 35th Street between 10 a.m and 2 p.m. Budd said they got away with computers, a flat-screen TV, iPods, gold jewelry and the family's beloved Kaycee.

Whether or not Kaycee was taken by the robbers, or escaped through the gate left open by the intruders is unknown; however, the Budds are convinced the latter is the case.

"She loves her home, she loves her family, she would never want to be with anybody else. That's what breaks my heart; I know she's scared, I know she's missing her family," said Alexandra Budd.

Scott believes the robbers took Kaycee because they thought they could sell her.

The family also owns a terrier named Zoe who was left behind during the invasion and is also shook up over the incident.

"She's usually really loud and excited, but she's different, just like everybody else," said Alexandra referring to Zoe.

Budd along with his wife, Sharon and their daughters Shanna and Alexandra spent the weekend looking for Kaycee with no luck.

"We're missing my sister, my mom's daughter.  That's how we think of her," said Alexandra.

The Budds are offering a reward of $1,000 to whoever returns the dog no questions asked. They ask that anyone who knows where Kaycee may be to call them at (954) 815- 5761.
