Cafe Iguana On The Auction Block

PEMBROKE PINES (CBS4) - A popular Pembroke Pines club once owned by disbarred Ft. Lauderdale attorney and convicted Ponzi scam artist Scott Rothstein is on the auction block.

The U.S. Marshals have set a Wednesday deadline to accept sealed bids for Café Iguana which has eight separate bars, several dance floors and multiple giant screen TVs. The minimum acceptable bid is $1.4 million.

The club was forfeited to the U.S. government after Rothstein pleaded guilty to operating the Ponzi scheme involving investments in fake legal settlements. Rothstein is serving a 50-year prison sentence.

Proceeds from the auction will go to compensate Rothstein's victims. The government has also sold off real estate, yachts, exotic cars and other property that once belonged to Rothstein.
