SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE (CBS4) – A South Florida health center is giving people a chance to try different ways to live better and each week they can experience a different kind of class.

Whether you exercise to lose weight by dropping pounds or shedding inches, the goal is to keep moving which is why people are taking part in the free event for the month of May,  a work out provided by Bryan Ballart who owns “Bring It” boot camp.

The experience has been life changing for Cristina Martinez who was overweight months ago and has since lost a lot of weight.

“They do not recognize me. They recognize me when I smile,” said Martinez to CBS4’s Jorge Estevez

Martinez is taking part in free weekly classes being offered at the Florida Blue Center.

“The goal is to help other people understand which program may be fit for them,” said Martha Garcia, director of the Florida Blue Center. The staff at the center in South West Miami Dade does more than sell health insurance. They offer free services like interactive

health screenings, consultations,  and games that teach people about health.

“All of us are on a journey in pursuit of health and really that is what our focus is, to help everyone on that journey,” said Garcia.

Even though the class is free, the take away from these kinds of workouts is priceless.

“The fact that it is available to the public opens up a new realm of things you might not have access to before,” said Martinez.

For the rest of the month of May, you can attend the boot camp classes Thursday evenings at the Florida Blue Center.

In the month of June, they are offering free self defense classes.
