Teens Charged In Pembroke Pines Dragging Death

PEMBROKE PINES (CBS4) - A pair of teens has been charged in the dragging death of 16-year old Kevin Burton in Pembroke Pines.

Last Friday warrants were issued for the arrest of 19-year old Christian Tur and 17-year old Dominic Rose. That evening Tur and Rose, along with their attorneys, surrendered at police headquarters.

According to the arrest affidavit, Burton met Rose and Tur on March 7th near NW 167 Avenue and NW 21st Street to sell them $25 worth of cannabis.  When Tur said it didn't look like $25 worth to him, Burton reportedly left to get more. While he was gone, police say Rose and Tur agreed rob him.  When Burton came back he handed the pot to Tur at which time Rose, who was in the driver's seat, tried to speed away.

Burton hung on to the vehicle and was dragged nearly 300 before he lost his grip and rolled violently onto the road. When paramedics arrived they found Burton suffering from severe head wounds and lacerations all over his body. He was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital where he died.

Tur and Rose have each been charged with manslaughter with a deadly weapon, leaving the scene of an accident involving a death and attempted purchase of cannabis.
