Broward Residents To Receive Free Paint At Giveaway

POMPANO BEACH (CBS4)- Broward County residents will have a chance to receive free exterior latex paint Sunday as part of a waste and recycling collection program.

Exterior latex paint will be available to Broward County residents at no charge for one day only from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the North Trash Transfer Station located at  2780 North Powerline Road in Pompano Beach.

The event, coordinated by Broward County's Household Hazardous Waste Collection Program, will provide reblended latex paint that was recycled from latex paints dropped off at Household Hazardous Waste collection locations by Broward County residents.

Paint is available in four colors, including beige, terra-cotta, grey and turquoise.

Officials said that the paint is available to Broward County residents only and residents are expected to provide proof of residency is required. The paint provided must be used only for residential purposes. Businesses are not included in the one-day paint giveaway.

A limit of 20 gallons per household, paint is distributed in 5-gallon containers, will be allowed.

Residents are responsible for verifying their municipality's and homeowner's associations paint color restriction ordinances prior to painting their homes.

The event is sponsored by Broward County Waste and Recycling Services and Resource Recovery System Partner Cities: Coconut Creek, Cooper City, Coral Springs, Davie, Deerfield Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Hillsboro Beach, Hollywood, Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, Lauderdale Lakes, Lauderhill, Lazy Lake, Lighthouse Point, Margate, Miramar, North Lauderdale, Oakland Park, Pembroke Park, Plantation, Sea Ranch Lakes, Southwest Ranches, Sunrise, Tamarac, Unincorporated Broward County, Weston, West Park and Wilton Manors.
