MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – Wrestlemania XXVII is just in the books, but the WWE has wasted no time in setting up the main event for Wrestlemania XXVIII here in Miami.
During an appearance on WWE Monday Night Raw, The Rock (a.k.a. Dwyane Johnson) challenged John Cena to a match to headline Wrestlemania XXVIII at Sun Life Stadium. Cena, who had been needling Johnson to come back to the WWE in the press, accepted the challenge.
For The Rock, he’ll definitely have home-field advantage. The Rock played football at the University of Miami and spent many years in South Florida. It will be in essence a dual homecoming for The Rock; one to South Florida, and one to the WWE.
The match came about due to Cena hitting an “F-U” on the Rock a week ago on Monday Night Raw, and The Rock returning the favor to Cena by hitting a “Rock Bottom” on Cena in the main event of Wrestlemania XXVII Sunday night.
Wrestlemania is expected to sell out Sun Life Stadium and could be the most attended event ever at the home of the Miami Dolphins. It’s also expected to bring in millions of dollars to the South Florida area.
