Dolphins Work Out Razorbacks Tight End

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (CBS4) - The University of Arkansas hosted the Miami Dolphins contingent Tuesday as they looked at quarterback Ryan Mallett. But, the real target was not the 6'7" quarterback.

According to NFL Network's Jason La Canfora, the Fins were most interested in Arkansas tight end D.J. Williams. The 6'2", 251 pound tight end will likely be available by the time the Dolphins come on the clock again in the third round.

La Canfora said the Fins are "highly unlikely" to draft Mallett.

The NFL Network report said new Dolphins offensive coordinator Brian Daboll will use more single-back plays with multiple tight ends/H-back formations. That made tight end a position of need for the Fins.

La Canfora said that if the Dolphins do manage to land a second-round pick, they could target quarterback Colin Kaepernick of Nevada. The NFL Network report said Kaepernick will work out for the Dolphins this week.

Kaepernick is 6'4", 220 pounds, and threw for 10,098 yards and 82 touchdowns at Nevada. He also ran for more than 4,000 yards as a member of the Wolfpack.
