FEMA: Fla. Nuclear Plant Emergency Exercise A Success

TALLAHASSEE (CBS4)- The Federal Emergency Management Agency has given Florida high marks for a nuclear power plant emergency exercise conducted in South Florida.

The state Division of Emergency Management conducted the exercise on Feb. 23 with Florida Power & Light Co. at the utility’s Turkey Point nuclear plant in Biscayne Bay.

State officials said Friday that a FEMA draft evaluation showed no deficiencies or need for corrective actions.

The objective was to assess the level of state and local preparedness in responding to a simulated radiation leak.

What a crock if the most advanced country in the world screws up nuclear power what chance has the USA if there is a problem?

  3. Jim D says:

tj, the fuel rods are not safley stored?????
where is all that radiation leaking at?
OIC, its your lack of knowledge, and need to fear monger
    thats going on here.
EVERY nuke plant in the US has spent rods stored in the fuel pool of the plant.
If your specific complaint is why is there not safe, dry storage, you need to question why the Yucca Mtn facility was mothballed. That is NOT an FPL issue, its a US Govt. issue

  4. David Clark says:

You can thank Harry Reid for not having anywhere to store the fuel rods.

I’m giving a 9.1 earthquake in South Florida about a hundred million to one. Anyone want the action???

The media is turning all of you into chicken littles. The more they can scare you the more you watch, listen or read their BS.
