Stolen Sex Toys Lead Keys Deputies To Burglary Suspect

MARATHON (CBS4) - A box of sex toys helped the Monroe County Sheriff's Office crack a burglary case in Marathon.

The burglary happened the night January 10th. The sheriff's office said someone broke into a trailer parked behind the Banana Bay Resort and Marina. A woman who lives nearby told detectives she saw people around the trailer, but didn't think anything of it because she thought they worked at the resort.

A detective and two deputies interviewed a number of staff and guests at the resort when one of the deputies, Kim Trullender, was also assigned to investigate a grand theft case. During the course of his investigation, he met with victim who said her ex-boyfriend, 39-year old Mitchell Tice, works at Banana Bay Resort. She reportedly told Trullender that Tice had recently brought home a box of sex toys which he said he'd gotten from a trailer behind the resort. She then turned the box of sex toys over to Trullender.

The owner of the trailer identified the sex toys as his, and said they were in the trailer at the time of the burglary. A warrant was issued and Tice was arrested on Sunday and charged with criminal mischief, burglary and theft.
