Broward Man Charged With Sexual Assault Of Chihuahua

OAKLAND PARK - (CBSMiami.com) - It can be tough for some people to find a date, but one drunken Oakland Park man allegedly went way too far, choosing his roommate's best friend Mimi for alleged sexual encounter. Mimi is a chihuahua, and Tomas Bautista ended up in jail.

The Broward Sheriff's Office said the bizarre encounter took place Thursday night, when Bautista's roommate came home to the Oakland Park home they shared and found him allegedly drunk. According to the police report, that roommate told Bautista, 40, to head for bed.

Instead, Bautista headed for the yard, and BSO said Mimi followed him.

A short time later, the roommate told investigators, he heard Mimi yelping in the yard. He said he grabbed a flashlight and ran into the yard, where he saw his dog running from his roommate.

The dog was bleeding, and roommate Bautista had his pants down, passed out in the yard.

Mimi's owner called the cops, and rushed the dog to Coral Springs Animal hospital.

Deputies roused Bautista from his stupor, and their report said he admitted assaulting Mimi. Despite his state of undress, he claimed to have only used his finger for the assault.

That didn't matter to deputies, who charged Bautista with cruelty to animals, a 3rd degree felony. However, that may be the least of his problems. His arrest drew the attention of US Immigration officials, after it was discovered Bautista is in the country illegally. Even if Bautista is able to post his $2500 bond on the cruelty charge, he is on an immigration hold and could face deportation.

Mimi, it appears, is in the US legally and will be allowed to stay as she recovers from her attack.
