S. Fla. Dance Duo Takes Top Prize At "Live To Dance" Finale

MIAMI (CBS4) – On the CBS hit show "Live to Dance", which is hosted and produced by Paula Abdul, dance acts from across the country will find out the winner of the $500,000 grand prize.

Six groups made it to Wednesday night's finale and were up for the grand prize, and of those 6, 3 acts were from South Florida. 2 of them dance at Dancetown Studio in Doral.

The winners are pint-sized duo 9-year-old D'Angelo Castro and 10-year-old Amanda Carbajales. They hugged each other as fireworks went off after the announcement.

"I was very surprised so many people loved us and wanted to vote for us," said Castro.

At their home studio, Dancetown dozens of fellow dancers gathered and screamed at the top of their lungs when the winners were announced.

The young ballroom dancing duo makes dancing look simple. But it's not.

"It's fun when he lifts me cause I get to go up in the air, and it's really fun, but I know it's hard for him cause we're like the same size," explains said Carbajales.

One of the local groups who made it to the finale is "Twitch", a dance act made up of 8 girls and 1 guy, has contorted, convulsed, and pirouetted their way into the viewers' hearts.

One of the dancer's brothers is proud they did so well.

"They didn't lose because they went this far, they all got a great experience," said Kevin Cosculleula.

Another South Florida team, the all-guy "Dance Town Chaos" impressed judges all the way to the finale.

"Dance Town Chaos" is happy to prove the bullies that dancing isn't just for girls.

"Now they realize my dancing isn't feminine, it's masculine and I've been getting positive feedback from all the kids at my school," said one of their members.

So what will a 9 and 10 year old do with 500 grand now that they've won?

"Now I'm gonna go to Disneyworld!" screamed Castro from the stage.

Congrats guys, you've earned it.
