Early Voting Begins In Special Elections

MIAMI (CBS4) - Early voting begins Monday in a pair of special elections prompted by Democrat Frederica Wilson's jump to Congress.

In state Senate District 33, which spans from Overtown to Miami Gardens, four Democrats are vying for votes. State Rep. Oscar Braynon II, who resigned to run for the seat, is running against Phillip Brutus, James Bush III and Darryl Reaves; all three are former state representatives. The winner will go up against Republican Joe Celestin, the former mayor of North Miami in the March 1st general election.

The other special election is for state House District 103 which includes portions of Miami Gardens, Opa Locka and Miramar. Since there is no Republican opposition, voters will have to cast their ballot for either Erhabor Ighodaro, Sharon Pritchett or Barbara Watson.

Early voting will take place through Saturday in Broward and through Sunday in Miami-Dade.
