Boil Water Order Issued For Brickell Area

DOWNTOWN MIAMI (CBS4) - A broken water main is responsible for officials issuing a precautionary boil water order Thursday afternoon.

A contractor doing work in the area accidentally severed the pipe on Brickell Avenue just north of Southeast 12th Street, causing  major traffic delays on the already construction congested roadway.

Repairs are expected to take 6 to 8 hours, and city officials are urging anyone in the area of Brickell Avenue from SE 8 Street to SE 14 Street to boil their water for at least a minute before consuming.

The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department will be conducting tests on water samples to determine when the boil water order will be lifted.

Residents with questions can contact the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department's Communications Center at 305-274-9272, 24 hours a day.
