Woman Hit Walking On Palmetto Expressway

MIAMI (CBS4) – A woman hit while walking southbound along the Palmetto Expressway is recovering at the Ryder Trauma Center.

Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Lt. Alex Annuziato said the woman, who is in her 20s, was struck by a black Cadillac between I-75 and NW 154th Street early Wednesday morning. Rush hour traffic was temporarily halted so an air rescue helicopter could land on the highway to take the woman to Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Through witness descriptions, the FHP said they were able to track down the driver of the Cadillac, identified as 24-year old Dantay Garcia, who was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident.

The FHP said they don’t know why the woman was walking in the middle of the expressway but her injuries are not considered life threatening.

It is obvious this woman was going through something very stressful in her life. When you hit someone EVEN if it’s in the middle of the highway DON’T LEAVE THAT PERSON THERE TO DIE!!!
