So. American Company Makes Colorful Splash In Miami

MIAMI (CBS4) – A South American housewares retailer has chosen Miami as its first United States location.

Last December, Casa Ideas opened its doors to the US market in The Shops of Sunset Place.  The home goods store, which sells everything from colorful bowls to bed sheets, inhabited the massive two-story spot vacated in 2006 by the Virgin Megastore.

The Chilean-based company also has stores in Colombia, Bolivia and Peru.  Ten million dollars has been allocated to the opening of more stores in Florida, with a plan to move west to Texas, California, and eventually the rest of the country.

The store features an array of affordable items and emphasizes its unique, colorful flair.

“We have about 70 designers exclusive to our store that develop designs.  Eighty percent of what you see is exclusive to us,” says the Mirelle Rodriguez the Miami store’s manager.

Wow really you dont know how to spell Colombia? I can not believe you are putting this to be published maybe you should go back to school and educate yourself a little more.

      Hi Josh,
My girlfriend is from Cali and she dislikes the “U” spelling also, but it’s the American way. Google search Columbia with the date February 1, 2003.

There is no American way to the correct spelling and grammar regardless of what the language in questiuon is. That’s like rendering tribute to ignorance. It is the norm in Miami for reporters in both languages to misspell words and give it the blind eye, or no big deal: “You know what I meant”. It’s interesting to know that most larger foreign companies based in Miami, particulary banks on Brickell are employing foreign nationals as personal assistants and secretaries. The foreign educated ones have a better domain of both languages and write proper business letters more professionally than do the locals. A true fact. They either speak English or Spanish, not spanglish.

I agree ONE THOUSAND PERCENT with the above post !!!!!!!!!!!!

I also agree with Jeff and Proper Speaker. Regarding my post, I should have been more careful with the explanation I provided. I meant that the “U” spelling is acceptable in English. I cited the Space Shuttle Columbia as an example. It was destroyed in an accident on February 1, 2003. I am ashamed to say it was the first time I took notice of the “U” spelling.
