Starbucks Offers New Supersized Drinks

MIAMI (CBS4) – South Floridians who love their lattes or frappuccinos supersized listen up.

Starbucks is now offering the new Trenta cup size which can be filled with just shy of a quart’s worth of iced beverages such as coffee, tea and lemonade.

The Seattle-based Starbucks Corp. said Trenta, which means 30 in Italian, is 31 ounces and costs about 50 cents more than the 20-ounce Venti size.

Florida was just one of 14 states where the new cup size went on sale Tuesday. Other states tapped to get the new cups were Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Hawaii, Nevada and Arizona.  The nationwide roll-out should be complete by May 3.

The expansion comes after the cafe chain tested the 31-ounce cup in several markets last year, including Phoenix, Tampa, Fla., and Atlanta.
